Neuroinflammation is often misunderstood as a condition affecting only the brain. In reality, it is a complex systemic process involving the brain, nervous system, gut-brain axis, immune system, autonomic nervous system and peripheral organs. 

When these interconnected systems become dysregulated, the effects can be far-reaching, influencing cognition, energy, mood, cardiovascular function, immune responses and overall health.

In this timely and thought-provoking masterclass, Professor Robyn Cosford will explore the emerging concept of spikeopathy and the mechanisms of neuroinflammation, including their relationship to COVID-19 and COVID-19 vaccinations. Drawing on decades of clinical experience, research and advocacy, Professor Cosford will provide an overview of current evidence, clinical observations and the broad spectrum of possible interventions that may help address these complex health challenges.

About Professor Robyn Cosford

Professor Robyn Cosford has been a functional medicine practitioner with nearly 40 years of clinical experience. During the 1990s, she conducted research through the University of Newcastle into Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Autism and ADHD, before later focusing on the gut microbiome.

Professor Cosford convened the first two Mind of a Child Conferences in 1998 and 2002 and has spoken at numerous international autism conferences, including the Defeat Autism Now! conferences in the United States. She played a significant role in introducing biomedical approaches to autism treatment in Australia.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic and concerns regarding regulatory overreach, Professor Cosford chose to retire from clinical practice early to continue speaking publicly on health policy and medical freedom issues. She served on the steering committee of the World Council for Health and was later elected Chair of Children's Health Defence Australia.

Professor Cosford has presented at numerous international conferences and has recently co-authored the landmark paper on Spikeopathy, authored a paper on nicotine and the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway, and has written two papers on PACVS (Post-Acute COVID-19 Vaccination Syndrome), currently in publication.
